DESCRIPTION: Aloe vera is a succulent found in many tropical regions, and it features thick, fleshy leaves that extend upwards. The leaves have been widely used in food, beverages, cosmetics, and traditional healthful practices for thousands of years.Ā It is an ingredient in over-the-counter laxatives, digestive aid formulas and functional foods and beverages. It is also found in many different personal care products and cosmetics, including soaps, shampoos and hair conditioners, shaving creams, suntan lotions, lipsticks, liquid makeup, and baby lotions and wipes. It is also used in perfumery and in natural cleaning products.
CAUTION: Aloe leaf powder should not be used long-term or taken in high doses and is not recommended for children younger than age 12. This herb may reduce the absorption of anticoagulants and anti-platelet medications, diuretics and diabetes drugs. Talk to your doctor before using this herb if you have a chronic condition, a history of kidney disease or if you take pharmaceutical medications.
